Recipe: 10 Minute Tuna Tataki

If tuna tataki is on the menu, we’re ordering it! It’s hands down one of our favourites, so we finally decided to recreate it at home. And honestly? Can’t believe we didn’t do this sooner! It’s ridiculously simple, packed with flavour, and takes 10 minutes max.

We usually go for Leap yellowfin tuna (easy to find in supermarkets), but a good fishmonger will always have solid options.

We love pairing this with sushi rice and salted edamame. And for the full restaurant experience at home, we always eat it with chopsticks!

Ingredients - Serves 2

  • 2 Tuna Steaks

  • 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp Honey

  • 1 Tbsp Lime Juice

  • 2 Tsp Sesame Oil

  • Pinch Of Grated Ginger

  • Red Chilli To Garnish

  • Coriander To Garnish

  • 2 Tbsp Black Sesame Seeds

  • 2 Tbsp White Sesame Seeds

Method

1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, honey, and grated ginger. Set aside.

2. Spread the sesame seeds on a plate and mix them.

3. Roll the tuna steaks in the sesame seeds, ensuring they’re fully coated.

4. Heat a pan over medium heat. Once hot, sear the tuna for 2 minutes on each side.

5. Using a sharp knife, slice the tuna thinly.

6. Pour half of the sauce onto your serving plate, place the sliced tuna on top, then drizzle over the remaining sauce.

7. Finish with fresh chilli and coriander—enjoy!
